General Information on the MA State Series

The 2014 MA State Series kicks off this weekend and we thought we would put together some general information on it for both those that are new to the Series as well as those riders who have been involved as the MA State Series rules keep changing!!

MA State plates are given out with the ranking on it to the top 50% of each age group in combined Novice/Intermediate Classes as well as the Expert Class to riders that fulfill all of the eligibility requirements, not to exceed 10 plates. In addition, each champion in each of the 2 classes receives a MA State Championship Backpack.

To be eligible for award rankings, a rider must race 3 of the 4 MA State Qualifiers as well as the MA State Final. If you are not interested in award rankings you can still participate in any of the MA State Qualifiers as well as the MA State Final. The rider will just not be eligible for the awards!

USA BMX has made rules revisions to the State Series this year!!

The State/Provincial Championship Series undergoes a change in that the single point races will not be required. Instead, we will incentivize riders to participate in single point races by offering 1 “bonus state point” for every 2 single point races on or before July 15th, 2014 to max out at 4 bonus points. This should allow more brand-new riders to get into the State/Provincial Series the first year they start. And, the 8 single pointers by July 15th is essentially the same as in 2013 in terms of the time frame and wanting to “max out” your state points heading into the Finals.

So basically, riders are not required to race a minimum number of single point races however, the more you race locally by July 15th, the more points you can add to your bonus state points & overall points!
